The Private Hospitals Fraternity should breathe a sigh of relief with the Good News that is about to follow. Previously the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority (IRDA) had granted time up to 31st August 2018 for all Private Hospitals who wish to claim Cashless Insurance services. to become NABH Accredited. This was a tough job and out of the 60,000 plus hospitals in the country less than 1% could manage the same. However, recently IRDA announced that it is giving this deadline an extension. The new timeline for the same is August 2019. It’s a good thing that the insurance regulatory body has given an extension, however, the hospitals need to take this seriously and get accredited. Hospitals have to meet the basic requirements at the entry-level accreditation to be able to empanel themselves under various insurance schemes.
